The exhibition ‘
The Last Newspaper’ took inspiration by the ways artists approach the news and respond to the stories and images that command the headlines.
New Museum curators Richard Flood (Director of Special Projects and Curator at Large) and Benjamin Godsill (Curatorial Associate), invited a number of partner organisations, including
Latitudes, to use on-site offices to present their research and stage public dialogues during the exhibition.
‘THE LAST POST’ / ‘THE LAST GAZETTE’ / ‘THE LAST REGISTER’... was an evolving-titled 12-page free weekly newspaper and an incremental exhibition catalogue edited by
Latitudes during a 10 week editorial residency. Produced from a micro-newsroom placed on the third exhibition floor of the
New Museum, the tabloids were an archive in live formation companioning
The Last Newspaper’s exhibition, artworks and events, as well as being a platform for critical reflection on the wider agency of art and artists with respect to concerns about how information is produced, managed, recorded, re-ordered, and disseminated.
A new issue was freely available on Wednesdays (
